How To Choose Great Golf Resorts

When choosing a golf resort, you need to first decide what type of trip you’re going to be taking and who will be accompanying you.  Is it with your wife and kids?  Or is it with your buddies from college?  This will determine the type of atmosphere you want to be surrounded by.

If your wife and kids are coming, you want to check out resorts that are diverse and have plenty of things to do, other than just golf.  A place with a nice golf course, gaming, nice dining, shopping, shows/entertainment and a hopping nightlife may be just the right fit for a family of four. Vegas is packed with places like this. Another option would be if you were taking a couples trip. The best type of place to look for here would be something geared towards men and towards women.  Perhaps a weekend away as a spot there you and your buddy could play 18 holes, while you’re wives spend all day at the resort’s beauty spa.

After your wives have fresh faces from their facials and after you and your buddy have worked up an appetite on the fairway, then you can all reconvene that night and enjoy a good dinner amongst everyone. California has some beautiful resorts that provide this type of option with their gorgeous golf courses and world-renowned spas.

If your buddies and you are going to be swinging the clubs, you may want to find something simple that has a course, a bar, comfortable beds and good food. Sports, food, sleep and drinks are typically the four things that are forefront in the male mind. This is the most popular type of resort because many men get together for golf trips. Many resorts like this have perks for their golfers, such as great golf rates if you stay at their resort. Some other things to keep your eyes peeled for when choosing a resort are the way they treat their golfers.

Some resorts are known to have weekly receptions to celebrate the sport, with a catered dinner and sometimes, even golf-giveaways! All-inclusive golf resorts are typically popular because you can easily stick to a budget and essentially eat for free all weekend. It’s not as though your technically eating for free, because it was all-inclusive, however, there won’t be any potential price surprises to effect your budget.

If it is summertime, make sure you look for resorts with a pool.  Most resorts are equipped with pools, but there are some that are not. After swinging and sweating all day, the most refreshing way to end it for many golfers is a nice, ice cold dip.  Not only is this refreshing, but it also helps soothe the muscles after a day of intense activity.  If pools are a big decision-maker for you, then you should consider the golf resorts in the Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, or Jamaica. These all not only have pools, but beautiful oceans to accompany the course.

After you choose who will be going to accompany you and the type of entertainment that you would like surrounding you and your guests, then you will be well on your way to choosing a golf resort!
